hey! I somehow bumped into your blog!
and after seeing this post, I was very much tempted to scribble down something over here.
Well, regarding independence and freedom, my tryst with life says that they are polar entities and until you've lacked freedom you may never realize what freedom means(of course, it may not be applicable to any other concept but I felt it so for freedom). I even wonder why don't we name our Independence day as Freedom Day or something like that.
Well, I'll state my own experience, which will kind of sound very stupid, but that was a unique experience I had for myself- Ragging(we had it for a couple of months, not a short period). I had never imagined that there can be a life where you have to listen to all stupid stuff, do whatever you are told to even when you are unable to accept it, follow it even when you are not convinced to follow and above all keep your brain locked somewhere miserably watching and following the orders.(I agree, this might seem to be the most stupid example possible, but this is what I felt - when you cannot do something which you want to and instead do something exactly opposite!)
and then the freshers day! man! that is when I realized what freedom can mean!
Anyways...sorry to post a depressing_n_stupid sort of comment!
By the way, there are many many things worth experiencing in this world, I hope you put 'not being free' last in your list :P
